Crasher Wake is a professional wrestler first and a gym leader second, and he sees no contradiction in this. Battles should be fun. That's not a philosophical position for him — it's just obvious. He deploys his Pokémon with the same energy he brings to the ring: loud, enthusiastic, genuinely enjoying the contest. He uses his earnings from competitive battles to help people in need, which is either the gym leader's equivalent of a superhero secret identity or just what happens when someone successful has good values. He employs his Pokémon's Defog to maintain clear weather in Pastoria City, keeping the swamp ecosystem functional. He was long believed to have been born overseas, which he encouraged by his personality and accent. He later clarified: born and raised in Sinnoh. The international wrestler energy was just him.
A large, muscular man with grey hair and black eyes, wearing a wrestling mask in the shape of a water-type creature and a bright blue and yellow outfit that reads as part athletic gear, part theatrical costume. Has a booming voice and the physical presence of someone who takes up space confidently.
