Pokémon Tower

The tall purple mausoleum in Lavender Town where deceased Pokémon are laid to rest — haunted by Ghost Pokémon and, on Ash's visit, the friendly Haunter who later bested Sabrina.

Pokémon Tower is the only consecrated Pokémon burial site in Kanto. It is tended by a community of mediums who coexist respectfully with the Ghost Pokémon in residence — Gastly, Haunter, and one Gengar are permanent tenants. Ash's visit was to exorcise (playfully) a prank-haunting on his party and to befriend a Haunter who chose to follow him to Saffron City as his secret weapon against Sabrina's Kadabra.

Appearance

A tall, narrow tower of purple-and-grey stone rising above Lavender Town, windows narrow and perpetually cold-lit, interior lined with grave tablets for Pokémon of every species. Incense burns at stone altars on each floor. Gastly and Haunter drift visibly through the walls.
