Sabrina is the most frightening Gym Leader in Kanto. Her psychic abilities are so strong she stopped expressing emotion years ago, and when Ash first loses to her, she laughs in a child's voice and turns him and Brock into small plush dolls, which she collects. She is deeply traumatized: as a girl, the pressure of her powers and her father's absence fractured her mind into her adult and child selves, and the child self manifests as an actual doll that wanders the gym. Her signature Pokémon is Kadabra, a Psychic powerhouse. Ash wins the Marsh Badge after a Haunter he befriended in Lavender Town makes her child self laugh for the first time in years — ghosts being the natural counter to psychics. She thaws, restores Ash and Brock to human form, and awards the badge with her first real smile.
Pale skin, waist-length black hair, expressionless dark eyes, a red gown or severe business dress. Psychic-caster stance — often levitating slightly, arms folded. Her gym is a silent multi-level psychic maze. A small doll of her childhood self is usually clutched in her hand.
