Character from pokemon-kanto by
Ash's starter Pokémon — a yellow Electric-type mouse who refused the Poké Ball, refuses to evolve, and, after one night in a Viridian hospital with a flock of Spearow outside the window, refuses to leave Ash's side.
Pikachu does not trust humans easily and made that clear on day one by electrocuting Ash the moment he tried to put it in a Poké Ball. It broke the ball, bit through the rubber gloves Oak gave Ash, and refused to walk beside him — trudging along at the end of a rope like a prisoner of war. What changed things was Route 1. A flock of Spearow attacked, Ash shielded Pikachu with his own body in a thunderstorm, and Pikachu blasted the flock apart with the first Thunderbolt it had ever trusted Ash to command. Since then, Pikachu has been fiercely loyal, fiercely stubborn, and fiercely opposed to evolving. When offered a Thunder Stone, it slapped it away with a bitter look. It does not want to be a Raichu. It wants to be the best Pikachu. It communicates in a language of 'pika-pika' syllables that Meowth can translate, and its moods are obvious to anyone paying attention — smug when winning, pouty when hungry, murderous when Team Rocket shows up again.
About knee-high, bright lemon-yellow with brown stripes down a lightning-shaped tail, rosy red circles on the cheeks that crackle when charging, black-tipped pointy ears. Expressive black eyes that can go from sweet to murderous in one frame. Perches on Ash's shoulder more often than he rides inside a Poké Ball.
Also known as: Pika, Pikapi (what it calls Ash)
