The legendary Fire/Flying bird of Kanto — the flame of the southern island and the third elemental guardian in the Orange Archipelago trio.
Moltres is the southernmost of the Kanto legendary birds and the flame in the trio. Lawrence III captured it last during his Orange Islands collection attempt, triggering the Indigo League's Victory Torch — which Moltres traditionally lights each year — to go out mid-ceremony. Moltres fights Articuno and Zapdos in the Shamouti sky and is the one whose flames nearly melt Lawrence's airship. Once balance is restored by Lugia it returns to its southern volcano territory.
A large flaming bird with orange-red plumage and trailing flame-feathers that make up its wings and tail. Golden crest, glowing amber eyes. Leaves smoke trails in its wake — the air shimmers with heat for meters around its flight.
