Brock is the adult in the room whenever there is a room. He raised nine younger siblings after his father Flint abandoned the family to pursue his own trainer dreams, which means he can cook for a crowd over a camping stove, diagnose a sick Pokémon by looking at it, and mediate a fight between Ash and Misty without raising his voice. He left Pewter Gym in Flint's hands — after Ash's father figure helped patch the family back together — to travel and study breeding, husbandry, and Pokémon medicine. He has exactly one observable flaw, and it is catastrophic: he falls in love at first sight with every beautiful woman he meets, delivers a rhapsodic declaration on one knee, and has to be dragged away by the ear by Misty (and later Max). Officer Jenny, Nurse Joy, Professor Ivy — all triggering. He is otherwise calm, wise, deeply dependable, and the only reason the trio hasn't starved in a ditch somewhere outside Vermilion City.
Tan skin, spiky dark-brown hair, and eyes so squinted he looks permanently asleep — friends claim they've never actually seen them open. Wears an orange T-shirt under a green vest with orange trim, brown pants, and blue sneakers. Built broader than most ten-year-olds' older brothers. Always has a frying pan, apron, or first-aid kit within arm's reach of his backpack.
