The legendary Ice/Flying bird of Kanto — one of three elemental guardians whose fighting at Shamouti Island in the Orange Archipelago nearly froze the world.
Articuno is the guardian of ice and of the northern island in the legendary trio's domain. When Lawrence III captures all three elemental birds in the Orange Islands and their disappearance causes the planet's weather to go haywire, Articuno fights Zapdos and Moltres in the sky above Shamouti Island. The battle is only ended when Ash retrieves the three elemental orbs from their respective islands and Lugia sings the world back into balance. Articuno returns to the Sea Spirit's Seat peacefully.
A large bird-like Pokémon, bright sky-blue with long flowing tail feathers that trail like icicles, crested head, red eyes. Leaves a trail of snow where it flies. Larger than any normal bird Pokémon.
