The attuned crystal a Mega Trainer wears — resonates with a matching Mega Stone on their Pokémon to trigger Mega Evolution.

A Key Stone is earned, not bought. Gurkinn at the Tower of Mastery attunes them after a trial that proves bond between Trainer and Pokémon. Without one, a Mega Stone on a Pokémon is inert. Holders include Korrina, Alain, Diantha, Malva, Steven, Ash (a Mega Ring), Astrid, Siebold, and Wikstrom.

Appearance

Small, iridescent crystal with a swirl of colors at its core. Usually set into jewelry a Trainer already wears — a pendant, a glove, a bracelet, a pocket watch, a Holo Caster, a pair of glasses. Glows with a rainbow flash when activated.
