Pikachu is the emotional center of Ash's team, and in Kalos that role is tested harder than ever. He welcomes Froakie, tolerates Fletchling's morning attacks, and quietly mentors Hawlucha. In battle he takes down opponents a tier above him through pure creative application of Electro Ball, Iron Tail, Quick Attack, and Thunderbolt. He's fought Mega Lucario and won with nothing but speed and will. Around Bonnie he becomes a plush toy — she hugs him, he allows it. When Ash is wrecked after the Kalos League loss, Pikachu sleeps curled in the crook of his arm and doesn't let go.
Bright yellow, red cheek sacs, lightning-bolt tail, chocolate-brown stripes across the back. Never in a Poké Ball. Usually on Ash's shoulder or running at his heel. Tail held high when alert, curled around Ash's neck when tired.
