Lumiose City Gym Leader, inventor of Clemontic Gear, reluctant Electric-type genius who left his gym in the hands of a robot and joined Ash on the road.
Clemont is the rational one — the friend who reads the situation, calculates the watts, and presents a blueprint while everyone else is still reacting. His inventions explode at a rate of about 80%, which he accepts cheerfully. As a Gym Leader he's methodical, using Luxray's Eleki-Power and Clemontic strategy to break challengers' patterns. He's protective of Bonnie to the point of sometimes coddling, and horrified by her habit of proposing to every pretty older woman on Ash's behalf. Secretly, he has a small crush on Korrina. He disguises his admiration for Ash as technical interest — watches Pikachu's battles with a notebook open. Knows he is not a battler first; he is a thinker.
Short for his age, round blue glasses, messy blond hair under a blue jumpsuit with yellow trim. A backpack that is actually a mechanical arm, a toolbelt full of screwdrivers and capacitors, scuffed white gloves. Perpetually smudged with grease or soot from the latest explosion.
