The eight-trainer elimination tournament that crowns the Monarch of the World Coronation Series -- Leon, Cynthia, Iris, Steven, Lance, Diantha, Alain, and Ash.
The Masters Eight is not so much an object as an event with the weight of one -- the thing every character in the Journeys endgame is either competing in or attending. It assembles the Champions of every regional League for the first time in the anime's history: Kanto-Johto's Lance, Hoenn's Steven Stone, Sinnoh's Cynthia, Unova's Iris, Kalos's Diantha, Galar's Leon, plus Alain and Ash. The bracket plays out over the final episodes of Master Journeys and Ultimate Journeys. Ash's path -- Bea preliminary, then quarterfinal Steven, semifinal Cynthia, final Leon -- is the spine of the whole series' ending. The tournament's conclusion (Ash beats Leon, becomes Monarch, the crowd loses its mind) is the moment the show's original thesis -- 'I want to be a Pokémon Master' -- finally resolves, at least for this version of Ash.
Conceptually: a single-elimination bracket of eight slots displayed on Wyndon Stadium's scoreboard, each with a Champion's portrait and color-coded type specialty. Physically: the matches unfold across Wyndon and satellite stadiums, each quarterfinal on a different pitch, the semifinals at Wyndon, and the final under the stadium's open sky with the red-rune Dynamax circle active.
