Sonia is the grounded, relatable counterpoint to Galar's high-drama League. She inherited the lab from her grandmother Magnolia and promptly turned it into a field operation, chasing down folktales about the Darkest Day and the two heroes who stopped it. She is affectionate, self-deprecating, and much sharper than she pretends -- she is the first adult in Galar to start questioning Rose's plan out loud. She treats Ash and Goh like the Research Fellows they are, not like the teenagers they also are. Her partner is a Yamper that specifically predates Cerise's Yamper in the Journeys timeline -- the two Professors trade Yamper photos. Under pressure she goes from cheerfully anxious to decisively competent in about three seconds.
