Professor Oak

Character from pokemon-journeys by

Pallet Town's original Pokémon professor -- still keeping Ash's reserve team on his ranch and showing up in Journeys to remind everyone where this started.

Oak is the emeritus grandpa of the entire setting. His ranch outside Pallet Town is the permanent off-season home for Ash's rotating team, which by Journeys means an embarrassingly large herd of Tauros, a Snorlax, a Muk, a Bulbasaur acting as field mediator, and an ongoing argument with whatever's currently on loan from Charicific Valley. He is warm, a little pompous about his Pokémon poetry, and the first adult Ash ever trusted with the words 'I want to be a Pokémon Master.' When Ash calls home during Journeys it's to Oak and Delia together, and Oak is the one who lines up old team members for pickup before a major match. He consults for Cerise without ego, trading data rather than status. Under pressure he is calm and genuinely, infectiously excited -- a researcher for whom every crisis is also a data opportunity.

Distinguished older man with a swept silver-white pompadour, friendly dark eyes, and a permanent warm smile. Wears a long white lab coat over a red polo, khaki slacks, and slip-on shoes. Carries himself with the slow, deliberate pace of a respected elder who has been asked the same question a thousand times and still enjoys answering.
