Cerise is the rare adult authority figure who treats his Research Fellows like colleagues rather than students. He drafts Ash and Goh by reading the look on their faces and trusting them with Laboratory resources most universities would not hand out without three interviews. He believes the right way to study Pokémon is to go where they are and watch, which is how he justifies two teenagers travelling to every region in the world on his dime. He is an excellent dad in the offhand, busy way of a man who loves his family but has six meetings today. He is proud of Chloe without needing her to be a trainer. He is proud of Goh's Dex work without making it a grade. He steps in decisively when Giovanni tries to quietly acquire Laboratory data and he steps out decisively when Ash and Goh need to make their own calls. Under pressure he gets calmer and more genuinely curious, the way good researchers do -- the world is still fascinating even on fire.
Tall, broad-shouldered adult with a neat dark beard, short-cropped brown hair, and friendly dark eyes behind no-nonsense glasses. Wears a white lab coat over a red sweater, collared shirt, and brown slacks. Moves with the rumbling warmth of a dad who has just remembered he left the stove on in another room. Almost always has a Yamper or a Rotom drone within arm's reach.
