The Mythical Pokémon at the heart of Journeys -- the pink cat-sprite Goh saw once on Route 1, and the reason he has spent the rest of his life catching everything else.
Mew is playful, elusive, and staggeringly powerful -- the ancestor Pokémon from which most species are said to descend. It cannot be cornered, cannot be trapped, and cannot be caught by someone who thinks of it as a trophy. It chooses whether it wants to be seen. It appeared to Goh and Horace as children during a Summer Camp on Route 1, and the memory is the bedrock of Goh's identity. It appears throughout Journeys in glimpses -- at Altered Forme Giratina crises, in the Johto forests, hovering over Mount Silver at dawn -- and refuses to be pursued. Only at the end, after Goh has passed the Project Mew trials by caring about his fellow Chasers more than the prize, does Mew finally come to him and let itself be touched. It does not get caught. It decides to be known.
A small pink feline Pokémon with large blue eyes, slender arms and legs, oversized feet, and a long thin tail tipped in a pink swell. Hovers rather than walks. Usually wrapped in a faint shimmering barrier of psychic energy. Moves with weightless, curious drift -- stops mid-air to examine things, tilts its head, vanishes when it loses interest.
