Meowth speaks fluent human, a skill he taught himself years ago trying to impress a Meowth he loved, and it has kept him in Team Rocket ever since because most wild Meowths still cannot understand him. He is the trio's strategist, its translator, and the most grounded of the three -- which is not saying much. He hates his job, loves his teammates, and treats Pikachu with the combination of deep respect and active resentment of a rival he will never admit to admiring. He does not battle in a Poké Ball because he is a free agent. Under pressure he runs the math quickly and pitches the escape plan. His voice, in every language the show has been dubbed into, is the most recognizable sound in the Pokémon anime.
A bipedal cream-furred Normal-type cat with a gold coin charm at the forehead, curled ears, narrow pupils, and expressive paws that gesture constantly while he talks. Walks upright, stands hip-out, and chain-smokes imaginary cigarettes out of sheer attitude. Carries a small suitcase on field missions for reasons only he knows.
