Leon

Character from pokemon-journeys by

Unbeaten Champion of Galar and Monarch of the World Coronation Series -- a charismatic showman with zero sense of direction and an undefeated Charizard, until Ash Ketchum shows up in Wyndon.

Leon is the face of Galar's Pokémon League, a former child prodigy who won the Championship and never dropped the title. He treats every match as a show the fans paid to see -- loud entrances, catchphrases, spin moves with the Poké Ball. Beneath the showmanship he is deeply, almost annoyingly kind: he shows up at his little brother Hop's matches, he remembers assistants' names, he takes rookie challengers seriously. He also cannot navigate his way out of a Pokémon Center and has learned to hide this behind extreme confidence. His Charizard, evolved from a childhood Charmander, has never lost a serious battle. Leon's default move is to Dynamax turn one and close the match before the opponent's strategy can load. He is aware that this is bullying and does it anyway because he believes fans deserve a spectacle. Ash is the first trainer who genuinely endangers that streak, and Leon's recognition of it is immediate -- he stops grinning for show and starts grinning for real. When he loses to Ash in the Masters Final, he takes it with grace and relief, like a man who has been waiting years for someone to finally come take the weight.

Appearance

Tall and athletic with a long mane of dark purple hair, piercing golden eyes, and a close-cropped beard. Wears a vivid red cape over a black uniform, yellow Champion's crown tucked under the cape collar, and a decorated trainer's jacket with the Charizard crest. Strikes poses before speaking; points upward before announcing a Dynamax; carries himself like a televised event in progress. Outside the stadium he is permanently lost and trying not to show it.
