Iris's Dragonite used to be a runaway it took Iris a long arc to befriend, and the relationship is the backbone of her Champion identity. In Journeys it is her signature and her closer, the Pokémon she brings out when a match needs to end. Where Lance's Dragonite is drilled and disciplined, Iris's is improvisational and affectionate. In battle it leans on Dragon Rush, Hurricane, and surprising agility for its bulk. It is patient with younger Pokémon and tolerant of Ash's chaos. Under pressure it looks at Iris, nods once, and commits.
