Horace

Character from pokemon-journeys by

Goh's childhood Summer Camp friend -- one of the three Chasers finally selected for Project Mew, quiet and observant and the person who remembers the Mew sighting when nobody else does.

Horace is gentle, observant, and the sort of kid who catalogues Pokémon by behavior rather than stat line. He was at the Summer Camp with Goh when the Mew flew past, and he has carried the memory with the same weight Goh has, in quieter ways. Where Goh chased Mew as a collector, Horace chased it as a documentarian -- sketchbooks full of field notes, theories about migration patterns, the patience to sit in one place for twelve hours. He is not competitive with Goh about the Project Mew trials; he roots for him openly, and the scene where the two of them reunite at Selection is one of Goh's rare unguarded smiles. Under pressure Horace gets more thoughtful, not less -- he slows down, observes, and adjusts.

Appearance

Slim teenage boy with short, neat black hair, round wire-frame glasses, and calm brown eyes. Wears layered earth tones -- an olive-green fishing vest over a tan undershirt, brown shorts, hiking boots. Carries a small sketchbook and a pair of binoculars in the vest pockets. Moves quietly, with the patience of someone who has spent a lot of time waiting for birds to come back.
