Dragonite

Character from pokemon-journeys by

Ash's Galarian catch -- a battle-scarred Dragonite that tested Ash's command before joining the team, eventually flying him to matches across the Masters Eight.

Dragonite is the grumpy old officer of Ash's Journeys team. It challenged him as a wild Pokémon in Galar because it wanted to see whether this new trainer was worth following, and it consented to the catch on its own terms. It still grumbles, still corrects Ash's instincts mid-battle with pointed looks, and still picks fights with Gengar when the two of them share the Lab balcony. In battle it leans on raw power, Hurricane, and a Hyper Beam timed to the half-second. It respects Pikachu without saying so and has adopted Goh's Cinderace in the way old dragons adopt kicking up-and-comers. Under pressure it exhales hard, lowers its shoulders, and takes the hit.

Appearance

Large orange dragon with a rounded body, short wings, a cream-colored underside, and a small pair of horns. Friendly face masking a veteran's scars -- chips along the horns, a slight limp when it forgets to hide it. Moves with surprising grace in the air despite its bulk; on the ground it lumbers with the patience of something that could smash the room if it chose.
