A small coastal town at the eastern edge of Johto, home to Professor Elm's lab and the starting point for every new trainer in the region. Where the winds of a new beginning blow.
New Bark Town is almost aggressively peaceful. Wind chimes. Nothing ever happens here except the three or four new trainers who leave each year. Elm's lab is the largest building in town. The town's motto, painted on the town sign, is 'The Winds of a New Beginning,' which is accurate but not subtle. Trainers stop here first to be handed a Chikorita, a Cyndaquil, or a Totodile. Then they leave, forever, and the town goes back to its cedar smell.
A sleepy cedar-and-white coastal town, population maybe eighty. Rows of small wooden houses with red or green tile roofs. A dirt main street with a single Pokémon Mart and a two-story Poké Lab at the northwest edge. Ocean on the east side, rolling grass fields on the south, Route 29 heading west toward Cherrygrove. Smells of sea salt and cedar and recently-cut grass.
