The historical heart of Johto, a city of Shinto-influenced temples, the Burned Tower of the Legendary Beasts, the Tin Tower of Ho-Oh, and Morty's Ghost-type gym.

Ecruteak is the city where Pokémon history is kept. Every Johto schoolchild learns the story of the Tin Tower and the Burned Tower here, and every Johto schoolchild knows that Ho-Oh once lived on the Tin Tower and fled after the fire. Morty's gym is in a traditional Shinto hall with invisibility runes carved into the floor. The Burned Tower is sacred and the Legendary Beasts — Entei, Raikou, Suicune — are said to have been born in its ashes.

Appearance

A traditional tile-roofed Japanese city with wide stone-flagged plazas and narrow wooden-building alleys. Tall cedar trees between districts. At the north edge, two great wooden towers face each other: the restored Tin Tower, white and gold, and the scorched Burned Tower, half-collapsed and roped off. Lantern-lit at dusk.
