Character from pokemon-johto by
Pallet Town's foundational Pokémon researcher and Ash's lifelong mentor, who keeps Ash's reserve Pokémon at his lab and takes every phone call at exactly the wrong moment of dinner.
Professor Oak speaks in a measured warm baritone and drops into informal verse — impromptu haiku, often bad — when he's excited. He is the author of the modern Pokédex, the retired Pallet Town gym leader, and Gary's grandfather. He is also Ash's primary phone-a-friend. In Johto, he appears mostly by video screen at Pokémon Centers, taking calls from Ash with updates on the team at the lab. He is the one who gave Elm the GS Ball in the first place, and the one who tells Ash to deliver it to Kurt. He mediates between Ash and Gary, between Ash and Ash's mom, between Elm and the Pokémon League. He is, at his core, every retired gym leader's best self.
Late fifties, with a square jaw, kind brown eyes, and greying brown hair that still remembers being spiky. Red polo under a long white lab coat, khaki slacks, simple loafers. Walks with the easy stride of a man who has spent fifty years on open ranch land. Holds a Poké-dex in one hand almost always.
