Character from pokemon-johto by
Ecruteak City's Ghost-type Gym Leader, a young mystic who keeps watch over the Burned Tower and believes, correctly, that Ho-Oh is returning to Johto.
Morty speaks quietly and rarely says something that isn't half-riddle, half-prophecy. He is the hereditary keeper of the Ecruteak legends — Ho-Oh on the Tin Tower, the three Legendary Beasts Entei/Raikou/Suicune born from the Burned Tower's fire — and he takes that responsibility with dignity instead of ego. His gym is dark, candle-lit, and covered in invisibility panels. His Gengar haunts the floor. He gives out the Fog Badge to trainers who can see through illusion, and his signature battle tactic depends on it. Morty is the one who warns Ash that Ho-Oh has been seen again, and is the first adult in Johto to believe Ash when Ash says he saw it over Route 1. Morty and Ash spend a quiet night on the steps of the Tin Tower looking north, in hope.
Early twenties, tall and slim, with shoulder-length platinum-blonde hair and pale grey-purple eyes. Wears a loose indigo robe over a white undershirt and dark pants, a long purple scarf tied at his waist. Carries a traditional Johto fortune-telling string of beads. Moves with a slow, deliberate grace that suggests he is always half-listening to something other people can't hear.
