Jasmine is the most genuinely kind Gym Leader in Johto. She is also, secretly, one of the sharpest strategists in the league, a fact her quiet manner hides. When Amphy — her family's Ampharos, tended for generations at the top of the Olivine Lighthouse — falls ill, Jasmine closes her gym and refuses any battles until Amphy is cured. Ash and friends travel all the way to Cianwood to retrieve a rare SecretPotion from the pharmacy there on her behalf. When they bring it back and Amphy recovers, Jasmine reopens the gym, battles Ash with her Magnemite and Steelix, and presents him with the Mineral Badge. She thanks him with a bow that Brock, lovesickly, attempts to reciprocate.
Late teens, tall and slim, with long brown hair tied back by a simple yellow clip, gentle brown eyes, pale skin. Wears a modest long white dress with yellow trim and flat leather sandals. Carries a small basket of medicines. Rarely makes direct eye contact; speaks more easily to Pokémon than to people.
