The rainbow-feathered phoenix of Johto legend, long believed extinct, which circled over Ash's head on the very first day of his journey. In Johto, Ho-Oh is finally glimpsed again — on the Tin Tower, above the Whirl Islands, in a bell-note and a feather.

What They Know
- It is the guardian-spirit of Ecruteak's Tin Tower and the king of the Legendary Beasts
- It is believed to have resurrected Entei, Raikou, and Suicune from the Burned Tower's fire
- It flew over Ash on Route 1 on the very first day of his journey and dropped a Rainbow Wing
- Its cry heals wounded Pokémon and is said to grant eternal life to any bystander
- The Rainbow Wing belongs to Ho-Oh; the Silver Wing belongs to Lugia
