Character from pokemon-johto by
Violet City's young Gym Leader, son of the former leader, and Johto's first badge on the trail. Specializes in Flying-type Pokémon trained atop Sprout Tower.
Falkner speaks quietly and formally, bowing before and after battle. He inherited the Violet City gym from his father and is still, visibly, working to feel like he deserves it. He trains his Flying-types — Hoothoot, Pidgeot, Dodrio — at Sprout Tower and on the cliff roofs above the town. He gives out the Zephyr Badge, the first of Johto's eight. Ash wins it after a rough match with Falkner's Pidgeot; Ash's Charizard refuses to battle at this point in the season and the loss forces a rematch. Falkner is gracious both times, though after his loss he quietly visits his father's grave. His reverence for his predecessors is the gym's architecture, and the tower's history, made personal.
Sixteen, slight and graceful, with chin-length slate-blue hair and intense dark eyes. Wears a traditional dark blue hakama over a lighter blue shirt, with a single red ribbon tied around his forehead like a Johto-style hachimaki. Poké Balls at a silk sash. Walks with the disciplined posture of someone who grew up in a Shinto-influenced martial tradition.
