Blackthorn City's Dragon-type Gym Leader, Lance's cousin and the most difficult badge in Johto. She refuses to hand Ash the Rising Badge even after he wins, and sends him into the Dragon's Den to prove he has the heart to hold it.
Clair is imperious, gifted, and brittle. She fights in close-quarters with her Kingdra and her Dragonair with a level of coordination few other gym leaders possess. She is the best Dragon-type trainer in Johto, and she is insufferable about it. When Ash finally defeats her, she accuses him of cheating and refuses to award the Rising Badge. The Dragon Clan elder intervenes and sends Ash into the Dragon's Den to retrieve the sacred Dragon Fang — and sends Clair in behind him, to humble her. They battle wild dragons side by side. She comes back quieter. She gives Ash the badge without pomp and, for the first time, bows.
Early twenties, tall and regal, with long cyan-blue hair, sharp grey-blue eyes, and pale skin. Wears a dark cobalt bodysuit under a flowing white cape with red-and-gold trim, black boots, and a high collar. Her Poké Balls hang at a red sash. Carries herself like a dragon tamer who has never publicly lost.
