Slateport smells like salt, fried shrimp, and diesel fuel. It's the beating heart of Hoenn's Coordinator scene — the Contest Hall here hosts some of the region's biggest events, and the Pokéblock festival draws vendors from every region. Harley trained at the Slateport Coordinator Academy; May won her first Contest Ribbon at the Slateport Hall after a heartbreaking near-loss. The city also has a darker side — Team Aqua has a hideout somewhere in the industrial district, and Captain Stern of the Oceanic Museum has had his submarine blueprints stolen twice. The city is the main naval jumping-off point for any trip between east and west Hoenn, and Ash's gang makes port here repeatedly.
A sprawling coastal city with a massive fishing harbor, a boardwalk lined with vendor stalls, and the turquoise glass dome of the Contest Hall visible from miles out at sea. Seagulls everywhere. The Oceanic Museum sits on the north pier — a retired research submarine docked permanently outside. Crowded street markets, ice-cream stands, and a Pokéblock festival every weekend.
