Norman's five-room gym — a multi-stage endurance course where challengers battle five separate leaders before reaching the Gym Leader himself.
The Petalburg Gym is structured so no challenger walks straight into Norman. They battle five of his disciples in sequence — each in a different style — and only reach Norman after passing all five. This wears down all but the most prepared challengers, which is exactly Norman's intent. His personal arena is deliberately bare; no visual distractions, no audience seating. The fights happen in near-silence.
A broad low building with sliding paper doors, wooden floors polished to mirror shine, and five interconnected challenge rooms accessed by a central corridor. Each room is themed for a different battle style — speed, defense, switching, type coverage, endurance. Norman's final chamber is austere: a circular wood floor, no decorations, natural light from a single skylight.
