Littleroot Town

Location from pokemon-hoenn by

A tiny coastal town of two houses and one lab in southern Hoenn — Professor Birch's research base, May's adopted childhood town, and the starting line for every Hoenn trainer journey.

Littleroot smells like pine resin, printer ink, and the sea. It's the quietest town on the Hoenn circuit — one truck comes in per week from Oldale, and the only other visitors are new trainers picking up starters. Birds sing here at volumes that wake you up, because nothing else does. Most nights the whole town is asleep by nine. The lab's lights stay on all night. Professor Birch runs every aspect of the town's Pokémon distribution. Trainers from Petalburg, Verdanturf, and Fortree make the trip here on their tenth birthday to collect a starter, and the day is a small local holiday. Ash arrives here at the start of Advanced Generation having missed the ferry and ends up borrowing Birch's guest room for a week while Pikachu recovers.

Appearance

A village so small it doesn't have a Pokémon Center. Two identical wooden houses with red-tiled roofs — the Maple family's (May's, recently moved from Petalburg) and a counterpart belonging to Birch's assistants. A white-walled laboratory with a solar array on the roof and a fenced outdoor Pokémon enclosure. Dirt roads. Dragonflies over tall grass. Salt air from the nearby coast.
