Dewford Town

Location from pokemon-hoenn by

A tiny island town accessible only by boat, famous for surf, an unusually deep granite cave, and Brawly's beachfront Fighting-type Gym.

Dewford is the first island on the Hoenn route and it feels like it — everyone surfs, even the Pokémon Center staff. The town runs on fish, tourism, and Brawly's gym reputation. Granite Cave, the island's inland cliff complex, contains some of the oldest cave paintings in Hoenn, depicting Groudon and Kyogre in ancient battle — the paintings are an early hint to the Weather Trio mystery. Visitors who arrive when Brawly's surfing have to wait on the beach for his morning session to end. Most of them end up surfing themselves. The town has no restaurants — everyone eats at the communal outdoor fish grill at the pier, and the tab runs all month.

Appearance

A fishing village built on a crescent beach of white sand and black lava rock. Wooden houses on stilts, one pier, one Pokémon Center, and a gym that doubles as a surf shack — palm-thatched, open-sided, with battle mats laid over a sand floor. The sea here is rougher than the Hoenn coast, with consistent four-foot sets breaking onto the reef.
