The Contest food — pressed blocks of blended berries fed to Coordinator Pokémon to enhance specific Contest stats: coolness, beauty, cuteness, cleverness, toughness.
Pokéblocks are Coordinator staples — fed to a Pokémon for weeks before a Contest, they raise one of the five Contest stats that judges evaluate. A Torchic fed daily blue Pokéblocks grows visibly more elegant in its feather-ruffling; a Slakoth on red Pokéblocks becomes sharper on stage. The art of Pokéblock making is in berry combination — May learned to make beauty-leaning blocks under a traveling Coordinator named Nicolai early in her journey. The Pokéblock Case itself was invented in Slateport City and is a standard-issue Coordinator item.
Small colored cubes about the size of a sugar cube, pressed in block form in a compartmentalized Pokéblock Case. Color indicates flavor and stat target: red (spicy/cool), blue (dry/beautiful), pink (sweet/cute), green (bitter/clever), yellow (sour/tough). Consistency ranges from jelly-soft to rock-hard depending on berry ratios used in pressing.
