Character from pokemon-hoenn by
Fortree City's Flying-type Gym Leader — a sky-loving gym leader who reads the wind, battles with a sky-sense most trainers don't have, and runs Hoenn's only tree-canopy gym.
Winona is the closest thing Hoenn has to a mystic. She claims to read wind direction by a sense she developed as a girl, and her Flying-type Pokémon — Skarmory, Pelipper, Altaria, Tropius, Swellow — obey weather patterns before they obey commands. Her gym is built into the canopies of Fortree's forest, connecting via rope bridges, and the battle arena hangs over a seventy-foot drop that is, in fact, a mechanical mattress. She takes Ash's match seriously and gives him a genuine challenge even after he's defeated four gyms. She's in a long-running respectful rivalry with Winona's counterpart in Unova (future-tense to this season) and is a close friend of Wallace, who mentored her in gym-leader craft. At the Sootopolis climax she flies reconnaissance over the Weather Trio confrontation on her Altaria.
A tall, slender woman with long lavender hair in a thin low ponytail tied with a white band, feather-like tufts at her temples, and violet eyes. Wears a gray collared flight suit, pale blue gloves, a gray helmet clipped at her hip, and gray shoes. Moves with a dancer's posture. Speaks softly with long pauses, like she's listening for a breeze.
