Rayquaza

Character from pokemon-hoenn by

The Sky High Pokémon — the third and senior member of the weather trio, a dragon that lives in the ozone layer and descends only to forcibly separate Kyogre and Groudon when they fight.

Rayquaza does not involve itself in the world. It lives in the upper atmosphere at altitudes most Pokémon can't survive, and it has been there for ten thousand years. The single thing that draws it down is its two ancient counterparts fighting. When Kyogre and Groudon clash at Sootopolis, Rayquaza descends through the storm clouds and physically wedges itself between them, roaring in a frequency that forces both legendaries to submit. It returns to Sky Pillar afterward without so much as looking at any human. It has been seen only a handful of times in recorded history. It battled Deoxys in the Hoenn region earlier in the series, nearly destroying LaRousse City, which is the other time a human generation has seen it up close. It does not bond with trainers and has never been captured in the anime continuity.

Appearance

A long, serpentine emerald green dragon with thin whisker-like feelers, yellow eye-markings, and red-tipped spike ridges along its body. Hundreds of feet in length. Moves like a coiled river in the sky — no wings visible, entirely aerodynamic. Trails ionized air behind it. Appears only at high altitudes and emerges from cloud cover when it does.
