The Team Rocket Meowth — a Scratch Cat Pokémon who taught himself to walk and speak human language for love, stuck to Jessie and James out of pride and poverty, and always the brains (relatively) of the operation.

• He fell unrequitedly in love with a wealthy Meowth named Meowzie years ago, which is why he learned to imitate humans
• He refuses to evolve into Persona despite being old enough — he insists his human-form skills are incompatible with evolution
