Character from pokemon-hoenn by
Leader of Team Magma — a cold, eloquent eco-ideologue who believes expanding the landmass by awakening Groudon will make the world a better place, willing to cross any line to prove it.
Maxie delivers every line like he's addressing a lecture hall. He believes that all ecological history has been a slow contest between land and sea, and that humanity thrived when land dominated — so restoring Groudon's ancient pre-eminence will 'expand civilization.' He is polite to grunts, polite to prisoners, and has no personal attachment to his Pokémon beyond what they can do for his cause. He and Archie have known each other for twenty years, and their feud is personal in ways they both pretend it isn't. At the Seafloor Cavern he awakens Groudon in what he thinks is his crowning moment — and then watches in silence as Groudon flattens a Hoenn island and then wanders off to fight Kyogre. The weather crisis that follows is his responsibility. In the anime version he goes into hiding after the Sootopolis incident and is not seen again.
A tall, lean man with shoulder-length red hair that curls outward at the ends, small rectangular glasses perched on his nose, and a trim red goatee. Wears the Team Magma uniform: a dark red cloak over a red long-sleeved top marked with an M, red pants, red boots. Speaks without gestures. Eyes never fully blink.
