Former Pewter City Gym Leader turned traveling Pokémon Breeder — the oldest kid in the party, the one who cooks, the one with the maps, and the one who falls in love with every Nurse Joy and Officer Jenny between Littleroot and Ever Grande.
Brock is the adult in the room. He cooks every meal, brews Pokémon food to order for each team member's diet, grooms half-wild Pokémon on sight, and mediates every May-vs-Max fight before it gets loud. He reads maps, remembers gym leader names, and doubles as a de facto nurse for injured Pokémon. His tone with Max is gentler than anyone else's — he understands being the oldest of a big family. His one glaring weakness is women. One glimpse of a Nurse Joy, Officer Jenny, or — in Hoenn's case — Pike Queen Lucy, and his knees give out. He recites terrible love poetry, gets decked by Croagunk later on, and never, ever stops trying. Lucy's brief crush on him is one of the running jokes of the Battle Frontier arc. Underneath it he's earnest, loyal, and secretly the reason Ash keeps getting back up — Brock is the one saying 'eat your breakfast, you have a gym to lose to.'
A lanky teenager with spiky dark brown hair, tanned skin, and eyes so narrowed they look permanently closed. Wears an orange shirt under a green vest, brown pants, blue sneakers. Carries a backpack that pulls out full tea sets, cookware, potions, and sewing kits on demand. The only member of the group who owns a proper chef's apron.
