Johto Region
Location from Pokémon HeartGold & SoulSilver by Game Freak / Nintendo
A region built on tradition and mythology — west of Kanto, layered with ancient history from the ruins in the southwest to the dragon clans in the northeast, where legendary birds and ancient Pokémon define the landscape as much as the cities do.
Also known as: Johto, The Johto Region
What They Know
- Located west of Kanto; the two regions share the Indigo Plateau as a combined Pokémon League
- Inspired by Japan's Kansai region — city names reference plants, culture reflects traditional Japanese aesthetics
- The Burned Tower event 150 years ago created the legendary beasts (Raikou, Entei, Suicune) and caused Ho-Oh and Lugia to leave their respective towers
- Kanto is accessible post-game after the player becomes Johto Champion; all eight Kanto Gym Leaders can be challenged
- Contains eight Gyms, the Elite Four at Indigo Plateau, and Mt. Silver as the ultimate post-game destination
