Bell Tower

Location from Pokémon HeartGold & SoulSilver by Game Freak / Nintendo

A ten-story tower in Ecruteak City built nearly a thousand years ago as a roost for Ho-Oh — maintained ever since in the hope that Ho-Oh will return, the bell ringing at the summit as invitation.

The Bell Tower was built specifically to attract Ho-Oh: architecture as invitation, a thousand years of maintenance as a standing offer. After the Brass Tower burned across the city, Ho-Oh left. The Bell Tower has been waiting since. Morty visits Bellchime Trail beside it on his days off, walking laps and believing. The Kimono Girls perform their summoning ceremony here. When the player rings the bell after obtaining the Rainbow Wing, Ho-Oh appears at the top — if the preconditions are met, if the ceremony is done correctly. The tower is accessible but requires clearing the path of Team Rocket interference first. The climb is ten floors. The summit is quiet.

Appearance

Ten stories of dark timber and carved stone, pagoda architecture that tapers toward the top. The summit platform is open to the sky — a deliberate landing space. On clear days you can see it from the south. The bell at the summit rings with a tone that carries farther than it should.
