Character from Pokémon HeartGold & SoulSilver by Game Freak / Nintendo
The Steel-Clad Defense Girl — a shy, compassionate trainer who delays her own gym battle to nurse a sick Ampharos named Amphy back to health in the lighthouse, because the lighthouse needs the light and Amphy needs the care and she's going to see to both.
Jasmine is the gym leader who won't battle you when you first arrive, because Amphy is sick. Amphy is the Ampharos who lives at the top of the Olivine Lighthouse and keeps the beacon running for ships at sea. She could leave Amphy with someone else and keep her gym schedule. She doesn't. You have to travel to Cianwood City — across the water, past Chuck's gym, through the waves — to get medicine from the pharmacist there. You bring it back. Amphy recovers. Then Jasmine will fight you. Her specialty is Steel-type, introduced in Generation II as the newest type. She formerly trained Rock-types and made the switch. Her Steelix (nicknamed Rusty in some games) is the centerpiece of her team — slow, nearly indestructible, a complete mismatch for any Fire-type you've been nurturing since New Bark Town. She's one of the few gym leaders the game gives a fully developed moment of character. The sidequest to help Amphy isn't a puzzle or a battle — it's just care, and you're part of it.
Small and slender with short dark hair and large grey eyes. Wears a white dress with a simple green ribbon. Quiet in how she holds herself — she doesn't take up more space than she needs to. In conversations, she looks directly at you but speaks softly, like she's not entirely sure you want to hear what she's about to say.
