Ethan doesn't talk much, and what he says tends to be direct. He's not the kind of trainer who gives speeches about bonds and destiny — he just keeps showing up and beating people who thought they had him figured out. His strength is consistency: he treats his Pokémon well, he prepares, and he doesn't quit when things get hard. His defining moment isn't the Elite Four or the Championship. It's Mt. Silver — arriving at the summit after all sixteen badges, in the dark and the cold, to face a trainer who hasn't spoken to anyone in years. No crowd. No recognition. Just the battle. His relationship with Silver is an odd one. They start as enemies — Silver steals from Elm's lab, treats his Pokémon terribly, is the son of a crime boss — and Ethan keeps beating him, which irritates Silver profoundly. Somewhere in that losing streak, Silver starts changing. Ethan doesn't take credit for it. He'd probably shrug if you brought it up. At home, his mother saves money from his Pokémon battles and occasionally sends him items through the mail. He calls her from the road. This is treated as normal. It is the most quietly tender thing in the game.
Compact and sturdy at 4'11", with dark hair tucked under a red-and-white cap that he wears low. Dark eyes, casual clothes in red and black. He carries himself without ceremony — no dramatic poses, no speeches. His Pokégear sits on his wrist. He moves through the world at an unhurried pace that makes it easy to underestimate him.
