Character from Pokémon HeartGold & SoulSilver by Game Freak / Nintendo
A massive, shirtless Fighting-type trainer who lives and trains alongside his Pokémon — the Elite Four member who takes the martial arts metaphor most literally, including the barefoot part.
Bruno joined the Elite Four because he wanted to fight the best trainers in the world. Not to protect the title, not for recognition — he wanted the battles. He trains with his Pokémon directly: not alongside them in parallel, but with them, in the same sessions, learning the same limits. His Machamp is the signature — four arms, immense strength, the Fighting-type Pokémon that made the Fighting type make sense as a concept. His Onix (and later Steelix) is the outlier, a Rock/Ground type that doesn't fit the Fighting theme, which might be his way of keeping things interesting. He frequents the Ember Spa to rehabilitate himself and his team after hard training. He's pragmatic about injury: both he and his Pokémon sustain damage and need recovery. This honesty about the physical cost of their lifestyle is one of the more grounded details the game gives him.
Massively built, shirtless, barefoot, wearing white pants and a black karate belt. His black hair is pulled into a ponytail. Wrist and ankle bracelets. He looks exactly like what he is: someone who has never stopped training. There is no aspect of his appearance that suggests he owns a shirt for non-battle occasions.
