Relic Castle

Location from Pokémon Black & White by Nintendo / Game Freak

A buried civilization in the desert — layer after layer of sand-choked ruins descending into darkness, where Volcarona has burned for centuries.

Relic Castle is what's left of an ancient civilization buried under Unova's desert. Each level is more collapsed than the last, more sand-choked, more forgotten. It's the franchise's best dungeon in terms of atmosphere — the sense of descending through layers of time, past warnings in languages no one reads anymore, toward something that's been burning since before the current civilization existed. Volcarona waits at the bottom. A Pokémon worshipped as a sun god, still burning in a chamber that hasn't seen natural light in millennia. Finding it feels genuinely sacred.

Appearance

Partially buried stone structures rising from the Desert Resort, with entrances leading down into increasingly deep subterranean levels. Sand pours through cracks in the ceiling. Hieroglyphs cover the walls. The deeper you go, the warmer it gets — not from geothermal heat, but from Volcarona's eternal flame at the bottom.
