Castelia City

Location from Pokémon Black & White by Nintendo / Game Freak

Unova's Manhattan — a towering metropolis of skyscrapers, piers, and overwhelming scale, the biggest city in any Pokémon game and the heart of the region.

Castelia City is overwhelming by design. After the quiet towns and forests of early Unova, entering Castelia is a sensory assault — crowds, noise, scale. It's the first city in Pokémon that genuinely feels like a city. You can get lost in its streets, miss entire buildings, and spend hours exploring without finding everything. Team Plasma operates here — kidnapping a little girl's Pokémon in the sewers, because even in Manhattan there are dark corners. Burgh, the bug-type gym leader and artist, is one of the first to confront them. The city is beautiful and dangerous, creative and exploitative — exactly like its real-world inspiration.

Appearance

Massive skyline of glass and steel skyscrapers rising from a peninsula. Piers line the waterfront. Streets are crowded with NPCs — more people than any previous Pokémon city. The camera angle shifts to ground-level in the main streets, making the buildings tower overhead. Castelia Cone ice cream stands on corners. The sheer density is intentional — this is a city that makes you feel small.
