N's Zoroark

Character from Pokémon Black & White by Nintendo / Game Freak

N's most loyal companion — an illusionist fox who was one of the abused Pokémon Ghetsis curated for N's childhood, and who chose to stay anyway because the boy's kindness was real.

Zoroark has been with N since childhood — one of the Pokémon raised alongside him in the isolated room. Unlike most of N's childhood Pokémon, Zoroark wasn't just abused and placed with him — Zoroark chose to stay. Its bond with N is the living counterargument to N's own philosophy: this Pokémon was given every reason to hate humans and instead chose to love one. Its illusion ability is both a battle tool and a narrative symbol. N's entire worldview was an illusion constructed by Ghetsis. Zoroark, who creates illusions, is loyal to the truth of N's heart. The irony is deliberate and beautiful. In BW2, Zoroark appears in Lostlorn Forest, creating illusions for reasons the player must unravel. It's waiting for N, guarding a memory.

Appearance

Bipedal dark-grey fox-like Pokémon with a massive mane of crimson-red fur tipped in black. Sharp blue eyes, clawed hands, a lithe predatory build. Can project perfect illusions of any person or Pokémon — you never know if the Zoroark you're seeing is the Zoroark that's actually there.
