Nate is the BW2 male protagonist, starting his journey in Aspertia City two years after the events of BW. Where Hilbert/Hilda walked into Team Plasma's first campaign, Nate faces the aftermath and the resurgence — Neo Team Plasma under Ghetsis's direct control, without N's idealism as a moderating force. He's a new generation's answer to the same questions: what are Pokémon to you? What does strength mean? But his context is different — he's seen what Team Plasma did, he knows the stakes, and his rival Hugh's stolen Purrloin gives the conflict a personal edge that BW's more philosophical tension sometimes lacked.
