Character from Pokémon Black & White by Nintendo / Game Freak
The BW2 rival who isn't chasing strength or knowledge — he's chasing a stolen Purrloin and the people who took it from his little sister, and god help anyone in his way.
Hugh is the most emotionally driven rival in the franchise. Five years before BW2, Team Plasma stole his little sister's Purrloin — a pet, not a battler, just a small cat that a small girl loved. Hugh has been angry about it every day since. He became a trainer specifically to get strong enough to take on Team Plasma and get that Purrloin back. His rage is personal, not philosophical. He doesn't care about N's ideology or Ghetsis's schemes — he cares about a stolen pet and a crying sister. This makes him both the most relatable and the most dangerous rival. He charges into Plasma operations without a plan, confronts grunts alone, and has to be physically restrained from doing something stupid on multiple occasions. But the Purrloin, when he finally finds it, has been evolved into a Liepard and trained to fight. It doesn't recognize his sister anymore. Hugh has to learn that you can't always undo what was done — sometimes justice looks like moving forward, not going back.
Spiky dark blue hair that's almost comically dramatic, intense red eyes. Wears a red and white jacket. His expression defaults to fierce determination — he looks perpetually angry, which he mostly is. Lean build, always moving forward like a man on a mission.
