Colress

Character from Pokémon Black & White by Nintendo / Game Freak

Team Plasma's chief scientist in BW2 — a man who doesn't care about liberation or conquest, only about one question: what is the ultimate method to draw out the power of Pokémon?

Colress is the most dangerous kind of amoral character — one who is genuinely brilliant, completely transparent about his motivations, and fundamentally incapable of caring about anything except his research question. He doesn't hate Pokémon. He doesn't love them. He wants to know what makes them powerful, and he'll work with anyone who lets him find out. Ghetsis recruited him to lead Neo Team Plasma's scientific operations, and Colress accepted because Ghetsis gave him resources and subjects. When Colress discovers that the answer to his question is the bond between Pokémon and trainers — that love draws out more power than any machine — he accepts the finding with genuine scientific delight. He doesn't switch sides out of morality; he switches because the data says so. He speaks with academic precision, treats every battle as an experiment, and is unfailingly polite in a way that makes his indifference to human suffering more disturbing, not less.

Appearance

Blonde hair styled in an enormous upward spiral that defies physics and good taste. Blue eyes behind glasses. White lab coat with blue accents. Carries high-tech devices — his Colress Machine can force Pokémon to power up. Clean, precise, always smiling the smile of someone running an experiment.
