He treats every battle as a tasting, every strategy as a recipe. Beneath the theatrical presentation is genuine expertise. He understands trainer-Pokémon bonds on an analytical level that complements Bianca's emotional intuition and Cheren's tactical approach. He's the first gym leader new trainers face, and he takes that responsibility seriously — losing to beginners gracefully is harder than winning.
